Bonus Whoring

Lately I've been racking up the bonuses from Party and Empire, and they just keep making it easier. I just heard about the following reload bonus at EmpirePoker:

50% Reload BONUS!

All you need to do is use deposit code
Tuesday100 on your next real money deposit
and get 50% up to $100* bonus.
This promotion will be valid only during May 10th,
from 00:01am EST until 11:59pm EST.

Just a few days ago I conveniently moved a bunch of cash over to Party, to take advantage of this month's 15% reload bonus there, which I should be able to clear in time to pull at least $200 back to Empire to get the full $100 in bonus. They're giving you 10 days to clear the usual 10 times the bonus amount in raked hands.

Be careful about teh bonus whoring, word is out that some sites are discouraging people who solely play for the bonuses.

That seems really odd to me, and I'm sure a lot of other folks too. Certainly the online sites can terminate accounts just like you can get tossed from a b&m room or casino... they have that right.

Personally, I can't see this happening to me (maybe that is naive?), because I actually play a lot of SNGs and cash games at the sites I play at, more often than not without even having a bonus pending.

I'm pretty loyal to Party and Empire exclusively... and I play both primarily because of the different offerings: Party has the step tournaments and a pretty easy comp/partypoints/whatever system... and Empire has different freerolls and has been my "home" for as long as I've been playing. I'd like to have a nickel for every dollar in rake I've contributed.

And yeah, I try and take advantage of the bonuses they offer, but I'd be playing there without those bonuses... and if bonuses were that important to me, I'd have accounts at 20 different sites: I don't.

I'm guessing that if all you do is deposit money, clear a bonus, and cashout, over and over, then you could be a target for this kind of thing. If you actually play non-bonus-clearing hands and tournaments, then Empire or whoever deleting your account is just retarded.

There's a lot of places to play poker, and if one or a few decide to start giving themselves bad publicity, so be it: people will just find another place to play.

As long as you play in 1 SnG per month, neither site will touch your accounts.

Poker bonuses arenĀ“t really worth your while if you are a decent poker player. If not go for it. The best context in which bonus whoring works is casino bonuses. I have posted a few tutorials for well known casinos where you can exploit the depsit bonuses by playing blackjack or jacks or better another low house edge game.

Surprisingly I seem to do better with casino bonus whoring than with poker bonuses.
